Occupational therapy plays a vital role in feeding therapy, especially for children with feeding difficulties. Occupational therapists evaluate the possible variables impacting feeding, which include sensory processing, oral motor skills, and behavioral patterns. Through skilled intervention using various techniques, including the SOS Approach to Feeding, the occupational therapist will provide a safe, calm environment aimed at making the patient feel confident whether it is trying new foods, using utensils, drinking from cup, developing new mealtime routines, or overcoming sensory avoiding behaviors.
