During evaluation by your physical therapist, you will discuss treatment options and approaches. We work with patients and families to create an individualized plan of care. The goals of physical therapy can include improving strength, improving range of motion and flexibility, improving balance and decreasing falls, gait training, improving posture, improving coordination, decreasing pain, improving body awareness and proprioception, and returning to prior level of function. Physical therapists can also recommend assistive devices and/or orthotics to improve functional independence. We provide interdisciplinary care with the occupational and speech therapists in our clinic, as well as referring providers and other clinicians on your care team.

We implement the following treatment approaches:
● Manual therapy including stretching, soft tissue massage, instrument assisted soft tissue massage, joint mobilization, and muscle energy techniques.
● Gait training techniques either with or without an assistive device. ○ Our facility is also equipped with a litegait training device to aid in gait training for overground and treadmill use. Our litegait device is used for promoting therapeutic exercise and balance training in a safe manner that negates risk of falls. Please contact us for more information regarding our body weight supported harness system.
● Therapeutic exercise to strengthen weak muscles and prevent future injuries.
● Postural reeducation to improve body mechanics, decrease pain, and improve overall bodily function and coordination.
● Neuromuscular reeducation to improve balance, coordination, body awareness, and proprioception.
● Cardiovascular and endurance training equipment such as treadmill ambulation, recumbent cycling, arm bike, and elliptical.
